Scott Weiland, known as the voice of seminal 1990s rock band Stone Temple Pilots and Guns ‘n’ Roses spin-off Velvet Revolver, has died. He was 48.
According to media reports, the singer was found dead on his band’s tour bus. He was in the middle of a tour with his new band, The Wildabouts.
Weiland had a very long history of drug abuse and was in rehab many times. His substance abuse problems led to many of the band breakups that he experienced over the course of his career.
He will be most remembered for his work with Stone Temple Pilots, who were one of the most popular bands of the 1990s grunge rock movement. Their first two albums, the debut “Core” and the second album “Purple,” produced a string of hit singles and sold 14 million copies.
